Important Information About School Meals
Free Breakfast & Lunch Meals at CEP Schools for 2025-26
Forty-eight schools qualify to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) through the National School Lunch Program. CEP schools offer free breakfast and lunch each school day for all enrolled students. CEP is based on the percentage of students that automatically qualify for free meals through assistance programs: SNAP, TANF, McKinney Vento, Foster, Migrant and Medicaid. CEP eliminates the household application process to qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
Second meals can be purchased at the current meal pricing and a la carte items (such as beverages, snacks, and entrées) can be purchased for an additional cost.

SUN Bucks/Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program (Summer-EBT)
Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program (Summer-EBT/SUN Bucks) provides grocery-buying benefits to low-income families with school-aged children who lose access to free or reduced-price school meals when schools are closed for the summer. SUN Bucks is a partnership between the Arizona Department of Education and the Arizona Department of Economic Security. Mesa Public Schools does not issue the EBT cards or case numbers.
The district’s Educational Benefits Form for CEP schools does not qualify students for SUN Bucks. The SUN Bucks application will close on August 5, 2025.
Visit the Arizona Department of Education's website for more information and to apply for SUN Bucks at: https://www.azed.gov/SUNBucks
