Honeywell Aerospace Chief Technology Officer, Todd Giles address Red Mountain students virtually regarding the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program.

Last week, Superintendent Andi Fourlis and students from Red Mountain High School, and Las Sendas, Mendoza, Red Mountain Ranch, Jefferson, and Zaharis elementary, gathered for a virtual call with Honeywell Aerospace’s Chief Technology Officer, Todd Giles.

Before the launch of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program at Mesa Public Schools, students were given the opportunity to hear from Giles on the significance of the program they are taking part in and ask him questions about his journey into aerospace engineering.

Over the next nine weeks, students will work in teams in preparation for the SSEP Design Showcase on November 1st. After the showcase, three projects will be selected and sent to SSEP for review. SSEP will then identify the product they want to use, and the team chosen will begin working with SpaceX engineers to become “flight-ready.” Once the product is ready, it will be shipped to Florida’s Cape Canaveral, to be loaded onto a SpaceX Falcon rocket and sent to space in the summer of 2024!
